The Chalk Man by CJ Tudor

Summary by Blogging for Books:
In 1986, Eddie and his friends are just kids on the verge of adolescence. They spend their days biking around their sleepy English village and looking for any taste of excitement they can get. The chalk men are their secret code: little chalk stick figures they leave for one another as messages only they can understand. But then a mysterious chalk man leads them right to a dismembered body, and nothing is ever the same.
In 2016, Eddie is fully grown, and thinks he's put his past behind him. But then he gets a letter in the mail, containing a single chalk stick figure. When it turns out that his friends got the same message, they think it could be a prank . . . until one of them turns up dead.
That's when Eddie realizes that saving himself means finally figuring out what really happened all those years ago.
Expertly alternating between flashbacks and the present day, The Chalk Man is the very best kind of suspense novel, one where every character is wonderfully fleshed out and compelling, where every mystery has a satisfying payoff, and where the twists will shock even the savviest reader.

Fracture By Kaitlyn Davis | Review Tour

 Previous Books and Reviews

Frost book review
Freeze book review and tour

Summary by Goodreads:

When you fall for the devil, you're bound to get burned.

Pandora Scott's world has blown up once again, but this time she's learned her lesson--saving the world isn't a job she can do solo. She needs friends. But when her strongest ally also happens to be the boy who shattered her heart, it's not as easy as it sounds. Especially since the person she has to destroy might just be the love of her life. With her fate hanging in the balance, Pandora's got to make a choice. Forgive? Forget? Fight? Or falter? But everything changes when she realizes that the people she thought were heroes might be villains, and the good guys aren't always as trustworthy as they seem...

 My Thoughts:

Getting into this one was a bit of a slow start, I expected a little more in the beginning. More detail as to what happened in the end of the last book would have been nice, eventually you do get the details but it isn’t quite brought to life. After getting past the first few chapters the book goes into more vivid detail. The twist and turns of the third book certainly surpass the second. Following Pandora to find herself and who she was is probably my favorite part of this book. Overall this was written with exceptional detail and I look forward to her 4th book come winter.

Character Inspiration

Name: Pandora Scott (Dory to a select few!)

Occupation: Thief, female Robin-Hood, general troublemaker…

Who Is She? Pandora is the main character in my Midnight Ice series! She’s a vampire with the ability to disappear who’s currently on the run from the supernatural police force she once belonged to! Oh, and her ex-boyfriend is chasing her. As is a mysterious (and annoyingly attractive) new stalker. Oh, and, well, the most powerful vampire in New York City. But she’s fine. She’s got it all under control…sort of.

Loves: Blood, money, taking overly cocky vampires down a notch, fast getaways, not-so-fast getaways for that matter, proving people wrong, and…animals. What? They’re adorable. Oh, and also using her ability to disappear to totally freak people out. BOO!

Hates: Losing at anything, the sound of her alarm clock, people who underestimate her, and, well, her ex-boyfriend Jax (and the fact that she doesn’t really hate him at all, as much as she tells herself otherwise).

Guilty Pleasures: Going to the zoo, eavesdropping on other people’s conversations, and punching Jax when he really, really deserves it (which is almost always).

Name: Jackson Rodriguez, but just Jax to most!

Occupation: Tracker for the supernatural police force he was born into, and aspiring musician on the sly.

Who Is He? Jax is Pandora’s ex-boyfriend and he personifies everything she ran away from—a life of boundaries and duties, without room for personal choices. He’s hunting her down to bring her back home, even though all the love he still holds in his heart is shouting at him to let her be free.

Loves: Proving Pandora wrong, his old beaten up guitar (a gift from his father), taking bad guys off the streets, and the old treehouse tucked in the woods behind his house that makes him think of his first (and only) love.

Hates: The fact that Pandora is usually right, and that in his world, duty means everything, even more than the secret dreams he holds within his heart.

Guilty Pleasures: Pushing Pandora to her limit and jamming out to the guitar solo from “Hotel California”

Name: You can call him Sam…just Sam…

Occupation: Wouldn’t you like to know?

Who Is He? Sam is a mysterious vamp who is currently stalking Pandora—oh, and he’s the only other person in the world she’s met with the ability to disappear. Can he be trusted? Probably not. Is he annoyingly alluring? Hell yes.

Loves: When he looks at Pandora and sees a little spark in the back of her eyes whispering that some part of her remembers who he was…who they were.

Hates: Jax and the unrelenting passage of time.

Guilty Pleasures: Popping in unexpected, because being invisible has its perks!

A Hell's Lovers MC: Grayson | Riggs | Cain by Crimson Syn

You can find my review for the first 'A Hell's Lovers MC: Wolf' right here

I would suggest taking a look at my review on the first book to make more sense of the following 3.

Grayson Book 2:

Summary by Goodreads:

She’s a wildcat in bed and she’s driving me insane!
Ever since that first night I can’t get enough of Rahyne Andrews.
Her kisses, her body, her moans, drive me crazy. I can’t seem to say no to her.
My only problem is, that she doesn’t seem to be interested in more than my body.
And I’m not about to have my control taken away from me.
She either bends to my will, or I’m walking.

Grayson Carter is everything I ever dreamed of and more.
He’s built like a rock and knows how to satisfy my every need.
But the last thing I want is to have another failed relationship.
Especially, when it involves a member of the Hell’s Lovers.
I’m the one in control, I’m always in control…
So why is it that Grayson Carter is the only man who has ever made me beg for more.

The Sweet Oil of Vitriol By Daniel Eagleton

Summary By Goodreads:

Ever get the feeling the staff want to kill you?

After a government sanctioned hit goes spectacularly wrong, Mossad agent Thomas is blamed for the mission’s failure by his superiors, ousted before completing his very first job. Desperate to prove himself, Thomas accepts an offer from his former handler, Yakov, to assassinate Jacob Okonjo, the head of the African Union. It seems Jacob is allowing certain parties to control Africa’s lucrative diamond trade, and in doing so has made some powerful enemies. But like that Mossad hit-team caught on camera in Dubi a few years back, how is Thomas supposed to terminate such a prominent figure without being caught on CCTV? The answer: to work undercover as a room-service waiter at a top London hotel, where, in a few months’ time, Jacob Okonjo will be staying. It’s the perfect plan. Jacob is to be administered an untraceable poison, and afterwards, even if there is an investigation, a trusted member of staff like Thomas will be above suspicion. That’s the idea, anyway. In the meantime, he’s to suffer month after month of boring, menial employment, serving rich, famous people dinner, when he should be making a name for himself amongst the intelligence community. Because you can bet this never happened to Bond or Bourne. Never had to work for tips, subjugating themselves like some average, everyday citizen...

The Order of The Senery, Books1 & 2 By L.D. Rose

Releasing the Demons By L.D. Rose (Book #1)

Summary By Goodreads:
Blaze Knight has been through hell and back, but the nightmares aren't over yet.

Five years after Blaze was maimed by Cyrus Chimola, a powerful vampire with a penchant for torture, he's still trying to pick up the pieces of his shattered life. As a genetically engineered mercenary with the ability to bend fire to his will and to see in infrared, Blaze's mission is to protect what's left of humanity. When Chimola and his crew return to the Bronx gunning for Blaze's blood, Blaze is forced to face the demons of his past. Hell-bent on revenge, he seeks the help of Valerie Medeiros, an NYPD detective who manages to steal his heart and save his life in more ways than one.

Motivated by her sister's gruesome death, Valerie has made it her life's goal to bury every vampire in the ground where they belong. When she brings in Blaze Knight for suspected murder, she discovers he's not only innocent, he isn't a man at all-he's a half-vampire hybrid working with a band of brothers for the U.S. military. Valerie has a hard time trusting anything with fangs, yet she quickly falls headlong into Blaze's life, a life full of darkness and horror she can't even begin to fathom. The bodies are stacking up, but Valerie can't seem to let go of this hybrid, a beautiful monster filled with pain, rage, and passion unlike anything she's ever known.

In a world where the line between good and evil is blurred, Blaze and Valerie will find danger at every turn, risking everything they've come to know and love, including one another.

My Thoughts:
This was a good read, as my faithful reads know I love vampires, anyways the characters themselves were interesting to get to know, the world building was okay. I liked the idea behind the book it had the dark world charm to it that seems to never get old. Overall it was enjoyable I have missed the paranormal world of vampires over the weeks.

Black Bullet By L.D. Rose (Book #2)

Summary By Goodreads:

Fledgling vampire Jonathan Kerr has just met his match.

Instead, he ends up with far more than he bargained for when he clashes with the beautiful half-vampire hybrid, Lawan Knight.

We Were Swans By GJ Freeman

Hey guys so sorry I haven't been blogging it's the end of my school quarter and as much as I love
you guys and books school comes first, just so you don't think I have left you hanging make sure to check out We Were Swans By GJ Freeman.

Summary by Goodreads:

Tom and Sacha are ordinary people. They have no special skills which they are forced to resurrect, they aren't retired CIA or former Assassins. There are no puffs of smoke, no trapdoors, no sliding walls to swish magically open revealing a startling array of weaponry. They are normal people, like you and me. Until their 3 year old child is abducted and murdered by teenage freaks, as a game, a joke, or at least, that's how it played out in court. In the style of the feral underbelly of modern society, these vile, sick delinquents even film what they did on a mobile phone. Eight years later, they're out, their debt written off, ready to begin their lives as blithely as they destroyed yours. That can't be how this ends. If it were me and I were given the opportunity offered to Tom, would I take it? Yes. In a heartbeat. Could I do it? I'd like to think so. But here's the thing. Would you? Could you?

Ensnared By Rita Stradling

Hi Guys,
not my usual for Monday Share Day but It was either a review or a babbling mess of words.

Summary By NetGalley:
[This novel contains adult situations and is only suitable for readers who are 18+]
A Near Future Retelling of Beauty and the Beast
Alainn’s father is not a bad man. He’s a genius and an inventor. When he’s hired to create the robot Rose, Alainn knows taking the money is a mistake. Rose acts like a human. She looks exactly like Alainn. But something in her comes out wrong.
To save her father from a five-year prison sentence, Alainn takes Rose’s place. She says goodbye to the sun and goes to live in a tower no human is allowed to enter. She becomes the prisoner of a man no human is allowed to see.
Believing that a life of servitude lies ahead, Alainn finds a very different fate awaits her in the company of the strange, scarred recluse.

My Thoughts:
So when I picked out this book the only thing I actually saw was Beauty and the Beast. I actually really love Disney and fairy tales so retelling's are my second favorite (Yes typical girl I know) Anyways Ensnared was far out there, futuristic, it was an ok retelling it had all the basic points, although I can't say it was my favorite, it lacked world building in some places, the characters were different from the original I didn't expect them to be the same, I did expect similarities, although there weren't really any except for the Beast. Overall it's well written and is way better as a stand alone instead of a Beauty and the Beast retelling.
